Commercial Success At Major Mainland Fatstock Shows

Irish Bred Stock To The Fore At Borderway Agri Expo.

With over 10,000 visitors Borderway Agri Expo has firmly established itself as one of the main events of its kind on the mainland since it was created in 2007.

Superbly organised by the team at Harrison & Hetherington, it attracted over 800 head of livestock which competed for a total prize fund of a staggering £10,000. There were also trade stands in abundance with 160 firms and 18 breed societies setting up shop for the day.

The final line up in the calf class was simply outstanding at the Borderway Agri Expo. Winner here was David Hicks with "Bootylicious", a daughter of Black N Blue Diesel bred by James Alexander, Jalex Commercials.

Dinner Time! Plans are in full swing for the NI Commercial Cattle Exhibitors Club Annual Dinner Dance, which will take place on Saturday 4th February. The venue is once again the popular Corick House Hotel, with music from Catch 22. This is one of the highlights in the NICCEC calendar and features a charity auction and presentation of awards. August 2011: Farlow Has Leading Lady At Heifer Championships.

The Ulster Bank Breeding Heifer Championship has become one of the most hotly contended competitions in the NI Commercial Cattle Exhibitor Club's diary. This year proved no exception with Club members keen to qualify their choice females at local shows throughout the summer. This resulted in a breathtaking string of heifers going head to head in the final which was held recently at Balmoral Show Grounds.

Donegal based suckler producer Pearce McNamee had the task of selecting the 2011 Champion from the first class entry, choosing a home bred British Blonde heifer from Alan Farlow as his leading lady. "Hillview Peppa" was one of the first to qualify for this championship have earned her stripes for inclusion in the final at Balmoral Show in May. Read more >>>
